As the co-author, with Harry Magee, of KLIC: Life Art Invention, and as a printmaker practising photogravure, I was invited to contribute to this show.  As a photo-historian and Klic enthusiast I have collected a number of items while researching his life which are on loan to the exhibition, generally items created by Klic, or printed using technology which he invented.

The new piece of work below endeavours to illustrate one of Klic's major contributions to gravure printing, the halftone screen he developed for rotogravure to allow mechanical wiping of the rotary printing matrix.  Also see the Story of the Print for Troon 2024

The print is being shown along side an earlier piece, a traditional copperplate photogravure created back in 2004 to explain the copperplate photogravure process, specifically the use of a carbon tissue photographic-transfer, in conjunction with an aquatint when making the plate.
