My photography has been self-taught, however, I am indebted to workshops by Thomas Joshua Cooper, John Blakemore, Fay Godwin, Paul Hill, Pradip Malde, Dewis Lewis and others. These were mostly run by revered organizations such as Portfolio Gallery, (Paul Hill’s) The Photographers’ Place and the late Peter Goldfield’s Duckspool; these workshops generally explored the more philosophical aspects of picture making.
In the late 1980s I became involved with a group of photographers who became known as the Glasgow Photography Group which then established Street Level Gallery, now Street Level Photoworks.
I am also a member of Scottish Photographers.
I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society Historical Group.
